François (Benoit Magimel) returns home from four years of school in Chicago to his family's estate in Bourdeaux, where he finds anonymous leaflets suggesting that his beloved Aunt Line (Suzanne Flon) may have caused the 1944 death of her father. The leaflets threaten the mayoral campaign of Francois's stepmother, Anne (Nathalie Baye), and soon, the family is caught in a vicious circle of history as all the secrets of the past come to light.
