Review of last week's film (The Patience Stone, 4 stars)
Steven says: The premise is simple, but the stories we hear are anything but. In a war-torn country, a woman takes care of her comatose husband. While doing so, she eventually tells him how she really feels about their life, she confides secrets, and she shares dalliances. It is yet another reminder of the societal role of women in other cultures.

Review of last week's film ("The Rocket", 3 stars)
Steven says: So many political and social issues are combined to formulate the plot of this otherwise simple story film. It entertains, and it provides some interesting insights into life in Laos. Watch it with that in mind.

Review of last week's film (Wadjda, 4 stars)
Steven says: "Wadjda" is a straightforward story that forces viewers to examine the place of women in Saudi Arabian culture. With the education system as a backdrop, the title character confronts societal expectations and rules with her own outlook on life and what is means to be happy.
